Angela's first ever single varietal Syrah! The 2017 Estate Syrah is made entirely from fruit grown on our estate vineyard, tucked into the slopes of Folded Hills. The site is meticulously farmed by grower Ruben Solorzano. It is our first Reserve Syrah entirely from Folded Hills vineyard and represents the northernmost block of Syrah.

Grower Ruben Solorzano works with winemaker Angela Osborne to choose the optimum moment for harvest. After carefully de-stemming the fruit, it is foot tread through fermentation to maintain a balance of freshness, structure, and integration. The wine is aged for 11 months in French oak barrels, with 25% new included to enhance texture and depth without overwhelming the subtle flavor of the site.

This wine displays a delicate minerality, with hints of menthol and dark red and purple fruit. Cool climate Syrah notes of black pepper and tobacco.

"The 2017 Syrah Estate Reserve is gorgeous and also loaded with character. Leather, pipe tobacco, licorice, black pepper and menthol all meld into a core of dark red/purplish berry fruit. Bold, savory and so expressive, the 2017 has so much to offer. Interestingly, the 2017 was done with fully destemmed fruit, and yet it its distinctly savory in style. The standout is the 2017 Syrah Estate Reserve, which has more depth and richness than just about every other wine here. This cuvée is all Syrah from the Folded Hills Vineyard in Santa Ynez and was completely destemmed and aged 11 months in 25% new French oak. Beautiful notes of gamey black fruits, crushed flowers, tapenade, and pepper all flow to a medium-bodied Syrah that has an awesome texture, ultra-fine tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish. It's already impossible to resist, yet I suspect it will keep for a decade or more. It's hands down the top wine here.
