2021 Clairette Blanche
The 2021 Clairette Blanche is grown in our Creekside Vineyard adjacent to the Homestead Tasting room. The site, like all of Folded Hills, is organically grown and farmed entirely by hand to ensure the finest quality fruit.
Clairette Blanche is a historic grape variety from the Southern Rhône dating back to 1575 that used to be widely grown. Since the 1950’s, planting has been declining in favor of other more popular white grapes in the Rhône and only a few vineyards still grow it. According to the USDA, there are 4 acres of Clairette Blanche in California and we have one of them.
Fresh aromas of orchard fruits, beeswax, and ginger are followed by refreshing, bright flavors of lemon-lime and just-ripe white peach with a generous honey and mineral finish. This wine is crisp and refreshing, making it a great companion to delicate seafood dishes and light poultry.
