2021 Estate Syrah
The Estate Syrah is made entirely from fruit grown on our estate vineyard, tucked into the slopes of Folded Hills. The site is meticulously farmed by grower Ruben Solorzano. It is our fourth Reserve Syrah entirely from Folded Hills vineyard and showcases Nojoqui, the southernmost block of Syrah.
Winemaker Michael Brughelli chose the optimum moment for harvest; the fruit was picked early and 85% of it destemmed. After a three-day cold soak, native fermentation commenced. A combination of punch downs, pigeage, and pump-overs was utilized to manage the fermentation, and the free run was kept separate from the pressed wine. The wine was aged for 12 months in 3% new French oak, to enhance texture and depth, without overwhelming the subtle flavor of the site. The expression is delicate from vine to bottle and transports you to the mineral earth and unique climate of Folded Hils.
